Hi, I am wondering if there may be a workaround, perhaps using the resource feature in Network Canvas, to preload the names and some pregenerated IDs of survey participants. We are revisiting people from a baseline survey for some of our participants and if possible it would be great to be able to have our enumerators select from a list of existing participants or enter their information manually in case they are visiting a new participant. I’m not sure if this is possible but thought it was worth checking if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!
Hey!
Apologies, but I’m not quite following your question.
Is it that you want to have previously nominated alters already added to new interviews by the same participant?
Or is it that you want to be able to choose from existing participants when creating a new interview?
If it is the former, I’m afraid there is no way to do this automatically (yet). The best current workaround is to add a quick add name generator interface to the start of the interview, and have your interviewers re-enter alters. These can then subsequently be used fur further nomination/attribute elicitation.
If it is the latter, the closet you can get to this is to use Fresco, and to create participants for everyone who has completed an interview previously.
If you can give more details about what you want to achieve, I’ll be able to advise you more specifically
Thank you! It is more the second option, but unfortunately that data was not collected with Network Canvas. So basically what I would have is a CSV of names and identifiers from our previous, non-Network Canvas survey and, ideally, I would be able to upload these to fill in an ego form (or have an enumerator be able to select from them, as they would for a name generator with roster data). But it is probably a longshot for there being a way to do this?
In that case, as I mentioned previously Fresco supports this scenario. You would upload a CSV of participants, including identifiers, and could then choose a participant from the dashboard before starting an interview. More info about Fresco in the documentation.
Alternatively, if you wanted to use the existing software, you could just use the existing participant identifier as the case ID. You could put it in a document on the same device as the one running Interviewer, and then just paste it in to the case ID prompt.
Ok, thanks; I don’t think we will be using Fresco because these interviews will be conducted in the field in rural areas but the second suggestion may work. I appreciate the input!
