Today we’re excited to announce a significant new capability in the Network Canvas tools. New versions of Architect, Interviewer, and Fresco are available, and they can be used in more than one language.
Highlights include:
-
Language support in English, British English, and Spanish across Architect, Interviewer, and Fresco, including the interview experience. Choose your language from the globe icon within each app, or from the settings menu during an interview.
-
A rebuilt protocol editor in Architect, with a new outline showing which parts of a stage still need configuring, a searchable attribute picker, and a preview of each form field as your participant will see it.
-
Stronger account security in Fresco, where passkeys now verify the user every time and deployments can require two-factor authentication on every password account.
The current generation of Network Canvas Interviewer and Architect update automatically without the need for manual version management. If installed locally as PWAs from your browser, updates load seamlessly on restart while keeping your local data secure and under your control. Of note, these latest upgrades have no impact on your protocol; rather, they represent app UI improvements that will be available to you without impacting the structure of your instrument.
To upgrade to the latest version of Fresco, follow the instructions on our documentation site.
What does language support cover?
Language support applies to the app interfaces: controls, guidance, dialogs, and validation messages, including those a participant sees during an interview. It does not yet extend to the content of your protocols: questions, prompts, labels, and response options appear exactly as you wrote them in Architect, and your collected data is unaffected. Support for translating protocol content is coming in a future release.
By default, each app follows the language your browser is set to. Choose a specific language from the globe icon to override this. Architect and Interviewer remember your choice on each device, and Fresco saves it to your user account. Learn more about language localization in Architect, Interviewer, and Fresco on our documentation site.
A call for community contributions and feedback:
These first translations are machine-led, so we expect some phrasing to read awkwardly and some specialist terms to be wrong. If you spot something, please let us know! We would appreciate any review and feedback around existing translations, and help with adding new languages. Please get in touch if you would be willing to collaborate on adding a new supported language and we may be able to provide limited compensation.
Thank you!
As with any new feature, we welcome your questions and insights! Please reach out to us directly via email at info@networkcanvas.com or post here on the user community.
