How do I connect the Interviwer with the server of my MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022)?

Dear Network Canvas Support Team,

I am a PhD researcher, and I want to use the desktop suit in my MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) to assist (me) with a series of (in-person) interviews.

How do I connect the Network Canvas Interviewer with my laptop?

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) of my university is asking me how/where I will manage the data storage. I will be using the Pixui ‘Server’ (my university’s local server), but I am not sure if this is a workstation supporting the ‘Server’ function for Network Canvas Interviewer.

I have tried different combinations of the server addresses (e.g., IP address, Domain name, Hostnames) and the default server port (i.e., 61001). When I send the pairing request, the interviewer shows this notification error:

Could you please help me?

Thanks in advance for your attention to this request.

Kind regards

Hi David

We’ve been discouraging the use of Server for the last couple of years, and do not recommend that people use it unless they have a very specific need. It is not currently listed on our downloads page for this reason.

The good news is that you do not need to use Server. Please consult the documentation article we created on workflows for more information.

Put simply, you should install and use Interviewer on your MacBook Pro, and then export the data before uploading it to Pixui using whatever mechanism your university provides. Once uploaded, you should delete it from your MacBook Pro.

You should of course use additional security features as needed by your IRB. We also have documentation on this topic.

Hope this helps!

Hello Joshua,
Yes, it helped. Thanks for your answer and documentation.
